Since I've spent the whole weekend at the flat, I've started noticing little things during the day that I would've otherwise missed. Since I'm living on the first floor just next to the main entrance I can hear every time someone enters or leaves the hallway. This can get a bit annoying at 4 a.m.
Secondly, the walls and ceilings are not of the thickest variety. Apparently a woman in the flat above mine is an amateur/professional singer of some sort, because I've spent the last two afternoons listening to a solo rendition of the same (unrecognisable) song. (I'm not sure if the same flat is responsible for the Suspicious Noises heard one late evening during my first week here. Hm.) Also the numerous strange noises, like something heavy but soft was being dragged across the floor, make me recall the offhanded joke with ~naihtmae: "Tomorrow's tabloid headlines: 'Neighbours with a serial killer!', Exquisite Corpse style." I think I'll be fine as long as nobody gets a "clogged drain".
Also, there's something that just screams "student life" to me about doing laundry at 2 a.m. because you realise you're running out of clean underwear. It might be just me, though. Mom's coming over tomorrow with more furniture so I've been cleaning the flat for the whole weekend. I really need a vacuum cleaner.
Also also.
